The care
As a privileged moment of exchange, the baby participates in the anticipation of the care by recognising the descriptive words and the organisation of the preparations, which reassures him/her.

Bathing : At home, the baby is washed like his mother, every day.
  1. Bathing is daily in our temperate regions where water is abundant.
  2. Every day because only soaping prevents the proliferation of pathogenic germs on the surface (hydrophilic germs) and deep down in the skin (hydrophobic germs).
  3. This practice prevents the appearance of pimples.
  4. First of all, a phase of awakening in a 37° water bath to relax and regain the sensations of floating and weightlessness known before its birth.
  5. Then a gentle soaping with a superfatted soap even in the folds, the face and the hair too.
  6. Rinse with the showerhead to remove the soapy water from the skin.
  7. Dry then massage with a cream if necessary or shea butter.
  8. This practice is different from the one often shown in maternity wards, but is close to what you do for yourself.
Other care :
  •  You dress her with one more layer of clothing than mum in her first year.
  • Look for the claws that are the sharp end of the nail, round it off with a nail file gently. No more than 3 to 4 passes each time to preserve the skin from the pulp of the fingers.
  • Umbilicus care : Soaping, rinsing, drying, daily then a secant solution (Cytelium). Avoid antiseptics which favour the formation of inflammatory granulomas.
  • Avoid very unpleasant nasal cleansing, favour mother's milk drops directly from the nipple into the nostrils, then blow your nose well.Change it after feeding because the gastro-colic reflex makes him evacuate the stools when he fills his stomach.
